Privacy Policy

K12worX Education is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to close the K-12 math opportunity gap. This policy explains what this website collects, what it does not, and how to reach us about it. We have written it to say only true things about how the site actually works, rather than describing practices we do not have.
What this policy covers
This policy describes this website, at www.k12worx.org. Our lesson application at ccmath.k12worx.org is a separate service with its own notice, and this policy does not describe it. Our programs also collect information directly from families and schools, outside this website, as described below.
The short version
This website has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no cookies. We do not build profiles of visitors, we do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use your information for advertising of any kind.
The only place the site collects personal information is the contact form, and only what you type into it.
What we collect
Information you give us
The contact form at /contact asks for your name, email address, subject, message, and — optionally — which kind of involvement you are writing about. We use it only to read and reply to what you sent. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Your message is delivered to us by email through Amazon Simple Email Service, which handles it in transit on our behalf, and arrives in our Google Workspace inbox. We use no third-party form-collection service; no one else stores your submission for us, though it may pass through our host’s server logs on its way to us.
Email. If you write to info@k12worx.org or finance@k12worx.org, we hold that correspondence as we would any email.
Donations are arranged by email. This website does not process payments and does not collect card or bank details on any page.
Information collected automatically
Our website is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs of requests made to it — including IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time of the request. These logs exist for security and reliability. We do not use them to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else.
We set no cookies of our own, and nothing on this site stores data in your browser for our purposes. The embedded video players described below are the one exception: they are Google’s, not ours.
Embedded video
A few pages embed a YouTube player so you can watch a sample lesson without leaving the site. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Loading such a page still tells Google that a browser at your IP address requested the player, and pressing play hands the session to Google under its privacy policy. We receive nothing back — no view data, no identity, no report about you.
Our pages also load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, which likewise tells Google that your browser requested the font file. We would rather it did not, and intend to serve the font ourselves.
Service providers
We keep this list short on purpose, and it is complete:
- Vercel — hosts this website and keeps standard server logs.
- Amazon Web Services (SES) — carries contact-form messages to our inbox.
- Google Workspace — our email; it holds the messages you send us.
- Google (YouTube and Fonts) — serves the embedded video players and the typeface this site uses.
We have no other processors. None of them is permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
What we do not do
- No Google Analytics or any other analytics service.
- No advertising networks, retargeting, or tracking pixels.
- No third-party scripts beyond the embedded YouTube players and the Google-hosted font named above — and neither reports anything about you to us.
- No third-party form or survey services.
- No sale, rental, or trade of personal information — ever, to anyone.
- No profiling, scoring, or automated decision-making about visitors.
Children’s privacy
Our lessons are made for K-12 students, and we take this seriously.
This website is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. The contact form is intended for parents, teachers, school staff, and other adults. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through this site, write to info@k12worx.org and we will delete it promptly.
Our program activities involve students, and any information collected for those programs is gathered through those programs directly — with parental or school consent as applicable — and is not gathered through this website.
Our video lessons on YouTube
We publish free math lessons to our YouTube channel, @k12worx.
We receive no personal information about viewers. We do not collect, request, or store data about anyone who watches a lesson, and we do not use YouTube’s data to build audiences or profiles.
We publish those lessons with our own software, which acts only on our own channel and keeps only the records we need to track what we have published — lesson identifiers, video URLs, and timestamps. It stores nothing about any viewer.
Lessons at grade 6 and below are marked “made for kids” on YouTube in line with our obligations under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). YouTube disables personalized advertising, comments, and several other features on videos marked this way.
Watching a video on YouTube means you are also using a Google service, governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not control that, and it applies whether or not you came from this site.
How long we keep things
Contact-form messages and email are kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry and to maintain the records a nonprofit is expected to keep. Server logs are retained by our host under their own retention schedule. Ask us to delete your correspondence and we will, unless a law requires us to keep it.
Your choices
Write to info@k12worx.org and ask us to tell you what personal information of yours we hold, correct it, or delete it. We will do so within a reasonable time. Because we collect so little, these requests are usually simple.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR. We honor those requests regardless of where you live — we do not think residency should decide whether you can ask us what we hold.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant we will say so on the page rather than quietly revise it.
